Places on my list

Unless UK travel restrictions come in again there are some things that I really want to do in the next few years and since I’m doing my usual end of year reflection writing them down would be timely:

Visit the seals and their pups at Donna Nook

Take Lincolnshire genealogy trips to Skegness, Hibaldstow, and Mumby, and Yorkshire trips to Wakefield and Netherton

Take the family to Hampton Court Palace (I haven’t been since I was a teenager)

Book a play at RSC for us all and visit Stratford Upon Avon

Stay for the weekend in Liverpool for everything from the Cavern Club to the ferry.

Book a week in Northern Ireland to include Giants Causeway and Belfast

Take a trip to Birmingham to explore the back to backs and jewellery quarter

Do a lot more walking – my inertia has got out of hand. Jumping on the train to Edale and walking for the day once it’s not so cold will be on the cards and a trip to Derwent bridge

Visit the Turner Museum of Glass at Sheffield University (when it reopens) and the National Fairground Archive

Take the kids to the Lake District – to include the pencil museum and Beatrix Potter’s house

I’m really lucky because holidays when I was a child were in a caravan all over the UK so I have pretty vivid memories of all the places that come up if you search best places to visit in the UK. But I’m aware my kids and husband haven’t explored as much as I did and I want to give them some more holiday memories before they grow up too much – which is really quite soon so I better get on with it…
